MDUNNER28.COM Week in Review: January 25-31, 2009

01.31.09 - Phil Hecken of Uni Watch came up with a great breakdown of the past Super Bowl uniforms. I just took one of my cats to the vet earlier. Boy, that was interesting. Time for some clearance shopping at Office Depot. Beer later.

01.30.09 - I completely remade this entire site. You'll only see minor visual differences, but the code is completely different. I really need to catch up on some of my podcasts and wrestling shows. I've been watching so much DBZ that I've completely forgotten about them. The Detroit Lions may get new uniforms in 2010. Apparently Mickey Rourke isn't wrestling Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 25 now. I hope he changes his mind again. Yesterday's workout went quite nicely. I think I'll do it again today. Then I'll eat spaghetti.

01.29.09 - Howdy. The fine folks at The 10th Wonder have compiled some great behind-the-scenes footage of a Heroes Super Bowl promo. I'm getting pretty excited for the Super Bowl, what I'll eat during the Super Bowl, and the return of Heroes. This volume, 'Fugitives', is supposed to be pretty amazing. I've stumbled upon a neat site that translates the Japanese fan-manga Dragon Ball AF. It's really nerdy, I know. I may actually work out today, but after that it's time for FOOD.

01.28.09 - Here is some great news for Ring of Honor fans. I got a big kick out of this wrestling/video game-related news. Smart Wrestling Fan Episode 188 is available. The two people that voted in this week's Question of the Week agreed that the Arizona Cardinals will win the Super Bowl. I think I'm a Vanilla Coke addict.

01.27.09 - 3conomics saved the day for me. Such a great bang for your buck. I watched the 2009 Royal Rumble yesterday and thought it was very solid. It got very congested towards the end, but for most of the match there were a lot of little storylines weaving together. There were also a ton of near-eliminations, most notably by Mr. CM Punk. Man, he looked like freakin' James Bond out there. So Randy Orton won. A predictable outcome, but a very strong one. I'm looking forward to seeing who he'll face at WrestleMania 25. Sorry, non-wrestling fans.

01.26.09 - Matt here. Part 2 of The 10th Wonder's interview with David H. Lawrence XVII is now available. Episode 183 of RBR: Weekly Wrestling talk is, as well. See that Guestbook button on the right? Go there and follow its directions. Fish sticks + Thousand Island dressing = YUM.

01.25.09 - I'm back. My throat's still sore and my head still aches, but I'm back. It felt so odd being away from my computer the past few days. I've posted a new Week in Review blog entry. Episode 96 of A Wiggly World has been released. Part I of The 10th Wonder's interview with David H. Lawrence XVII is also available. I haven't listened to either yet, but I'll be sure to do so before the day is over. Being sick has given me a chance to watch a ton of DBZ. It's really starting to get good; I'm nearing the end of the Cell Saga. Domino's Pizza for lunch!

MDUNNER28.COM Week in Review: January 18-24, 2009

01.24.09 - I'm really sorry about being sick and all. Unfortunately I can't do a whole lot about it. I've been in bed for three days. I probably should be now. I just took a shower at 3:30 AM to help relax. Such a good feeling. Hopefully the Ibuprofen will come through for me. I just took my temperature, and I'm at 100.8°F. Universal health care would be handy right about now.

01.23.09 - Another sick day.

01.22.09 - I apologize for another day without an entry. It seems I've caught this flu bug going around.

01.21.09 - Nothing for today. My head is killing me. I'm going to go lie down. Hopefully I'll be back tomorrow.

01.20.09 - I've discovered the wonderful website RateBeer.com. I'm having a good time looking up beers I've had recently, like Guinness Draught and Samuel Adams Winter Lager. I had some tasty rice dish (with Tabasco, of course) and lasagna for dinner last night. I'm pretty stoked for the Inauguration later today.

01.19.09 - It's cool to see Kurt Warner back in the Super Bowl after seven years, and I'll be rooting for the Cardinals when they take on the Steelers in a few weeks. Episode 182 of RBR: Weekly Wrestling Talk is available. I'm not sure what happened to 181. I went grocery shopping yesterday and got a ton of good food, so be prepared for some good food talk.

01.18.09 - My DBZ craze is out of control. Yesterday I downloaded the Best of DBZ Vol. 1-6. I feel like such a nerd. For dinner I made chili-seasoned tacos. I enjoyed them. I've posted a new Week in Review blog entry, in case anyone would like to comment on anything I've said or done from this week. Please do. I've got to figure out a new Question of the Week and eat some more of these delicious Lifesavers.

MDUNNER28.COM Week in Review: January 11-17, 2009

01.17.09 - I ended up making chicken gorditas rather than Bowl of Yum. They actually turned out really well, and I think I might make it again soon. I don't think I'd seen a TV commercial for The Wrestler until last night. Now it's got non-wrestling fans like my dad interested. I will now continue my Dragon Ball Z and Insurgency craze. Gas station food and beer should go well with that.

01.16.09 - As of writing this, it is -24°F. That is very cold. I don't really have anything to report today. I'm most likely going to be busy with this and Bowl of Yum.

01.15.09 - Over 400 hits! Nice. It's so unbelievably cold! I made my Bowl of Yum yesterday for dinner. Chili beans, corn, chopped hot dogs, shredded cheedar cheese, minced onions, barbeque sauce, chipotle sauce, hot sauce, and chili powder. Delicious! A new episode of We Talk Games is up. Today's background is text from my Dragon Ball Z shirt I received from my sister and her husband in Japan. It says, "The Strongest Being in Galaxy." Awesome. I can't get enough of Andy Samberg's SNL Digital Shorts like this one, so I think I may watch Hot Rod tonight.

01.14.09 - Why won't this cold (or whatever is it) leave! I've been lying in bed most of the day trying to rest it away. It's very cold and snowy here. Episode 186 of Smart Wrestling Fan is available for download. As I said last night, I felt very underwhelmed by the ending to Pokémon Colosseum. It was a great game, but I feel like it had tons more of potential. To me it seems like Nintendo's idea was to use these GameCube Pokémon games to supplement their main player, the GameBoy Advance. If they would take the time to develop a full console version of Pokémon, this franchise could be resurrected. I'm still debating whether or not to review TNA Genesis on my blog. I may cook my special dish later, which I will elaborate on at a later time. I'm out for now.

01.13.09 - I still feel like crap, but oh well. A new episode of A Wiggly World is available. Yesterday I received the two games I bought for $10 on eBay, NCAA Football 2004 and NCAA Football 2005. They're outdated and irrelevant to everyone else, but they're the best football games for the GameCube in my room. Chunky soup might be a good idea, as outside right now it is -6°F with a wind chill of -15°F.

01.12.09 - With all the snow and having a cold and being very worn out, I'm taking today off.

01.11.09 - I can't believe the Cardinals beat the Panthers! I actually had the Panthers as my pick to win the Super Bowl. The Compare People Application on Facebook is a joke. I apparently dropped six spots to #14 in "Most Tech Savvy" in one day. Six people became more tech savvy than me that quickly? I don't think so. This week's Question of the Week, "What's your favorite social networking site/service?", ended in a three-way tie between MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter with one vote each. More votes, please. Time to play some Pokémon Colosseum and eat some tacos!

MDUNNER28.COM Week in Review: January 4-10, 2009

01.10.09 - I love Windows 7 Beta. Here's my desktop so far. Awesome. I'm going to keep playing with it while eating Cookie Crisp. G'bye!

01.09.09 - So Florida beat Oklahoma last night. They are now the national runner-ups, according to me. Hey, you can't argue with undefeated. I think I may review TNA Genesis, which is this Sunday, on my blog. I may also start "week-in-review" entries to allow visitors to comment on my thoughts here. I seem to have lost my love for chimichangas.

01.08.09 - Hi. Barack Obama is going to have a new presidential limo. I'm really looking forward to tonight's BCS Championship Game, though I feel like the true national champion may have already been determined. Looking for a fun Dragon Ball Z game for PC? Get Earth's Special Forces, a Half-Life mod, for free. Windows 7 Beta will be available to the public on Friday. Chicken patties are a good food.

01.07.09 - Spaghetti is tasty. Smart Wrestling Fan Episode 185 can now be downloaded. @turnip5 drew his own font. Pretty nifty, if you ask me. Apple's last Macworld keynote was given yesterday, underwhelming many fanboys. I'll stick with my less expensive and more powerful PC. I did install iTunes yesterday, though. Its main attraction to me was its organization of podcasts. I'm not sure how long I'll stick with it. That's all for today.

01.06.09 - 300 hits! Woo hoo! Nothing makes driving to the gas station on a cold winter night better than Peter Frampton on the radio. I ended up going with Rooster Bold Wintergreen because it's super cheap. We'll see how that goes. Last night's Fiesta Bowl was a great game with an incredible finish. I'll wrap up today by leaving you the cutest picture I've ever taken.

01.05.09 - RBR: Weekly Wrestling Talk Episode 180 is now available. Speaking of RBR, I've added a link to their podcast site on the right menu. twhirl is a great Twitter application. If you use Twitter, use twhirl. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Vikings lose. They showed on national TV how bad their passing game is. I knew once they were down by more than two possessions they didn't have a chance of getting back in the game. Wintergreen, Peach, Berry, or Citrus? Tweet me your answer. Doesn't that pizza look delicious? It was. Schweigert time!

01.04.09 - I started a new blog and wrote my first entry, which can be found here. My football entry was kind of random, but I thought I'd just go with what was on my mind. If you use Windows and blog, you should look into using Windows Live Writer. I don't know how I didn't know about this program before. It makes blogging so much easier. What kind of chicken nuggets don't have cooking directions on the package? Schweigert chicken nuggets, that's what kind. 425 degrees and 10 minutes later (which was determined by my cooking knowledge) I was going nuggnuts.

Football? Awesome.

This is my first attempt at this whole blog thing, so I’ll try to keep it simple.

Yep, that's me in high school.

I’ve spent the majority of my free time this week watching college football bowl games, watching the NFL wildcard games on the weekend, playing Madden 08 for PC, and reading and conversing on ESPN.com. I can’t remember a time when I’ve been more interested in the sport.

It could be related to the now widespread use of the spread offense in college football. The spread is by far my favorite offense in football. The main goal of the spread is to, well, spread out the defense and make them defend not only the length of the field but the width, as well. With, say, four wide receivers on the field, the defense is forced to either have a linebacker cover a much faster receiver or substitute in another d-back for a linebacker or defensive lineman. With more d-backs, the defense is usually stuck in either a nickel, dime, 3-3-5, or 3-2-6. It’s now much easier for the offense to run up the middle now. The defense is smaller and more spread out. Plays like the zone read and many different types of options force every defensive player to play their own role in slowing down the play, something that is very difficult to do.

Enough with that spread offense stuff. I’ve been playing a ton of Madden 08 on PC. If you can find it anywhere for cheap, I recommend going out and buying it. One of its great features is no limit for number of created teams. I love creating teams. I’ve done a ton of work in Photoshop turning normal sports graphics into helmet logos. I actually took a lot of time highlighting my work in my two YouTube videos: Waterloo West Wahawks and Hawkeye Hawks.

I think that’s all the football-related material I can think of at the moment. I guess I made a couple of posts on Uni Watch today. That’s all.

Don’t forget to visit mdunner28.com for updates on everything. And please comment. I’d really like to get a nice community going here.
